Big Phat Band Gordon Goodwin

Generations in Jazz 2013 from Fed Creative on Vimeo.

Welcome to our new website – an improved information hub for everything relating to Generations in Jazz. We would hope that by now our “Generations brand” is familiar to you!

You would know what the event is about with the City of Mount Gambier National Stage Band and Vocal Ensemble Awards and the instrumental and vocal scholarships.

It gives you all the detail of costs based on accommodation package options, testimonials from others who have been and have shared the experience of GIJ.

But words don’t always tell the story and convey the atmosphere of what really happens.

It isn’t easy to put on paper the excitement of the students who have

  • Never been to a regional area
  • Never experienced a coach trip
  • Never stayed in a Motel or Caravan Park
  • Never travelled with anyone but their family
  • Never had meals with another 3000 people
  • Never seen a chook or a cow
  • And never ever have had an experience like Generations!

Even if you have been lucky enough to see James Morrison perform before, this is different, because even as James says: “there is nowhere in the world where I perform in front of 3000 musicians!”

If you have been fortunate enough to see Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band in America then you would certainly know how fantastic they are – if you saw them at Generations this year, because this was the only place they performed in Australia  – you would have been to one of the most amazing concerts in your life!

And if you haven’t seen them, here is your chance again in 2014!! I can only implore you to really seriously consider sharing this opportunity – you seriously won’t regret your choice!

So, if we could suggest, if you have been toying with the idea of joining the “Generations family” in 2014, and you are taking into consideration finance, time away from school etc (all valid reasons) please consider also the value of your investment for the weekend doesn’t end there!

This is a life changing experience for both student and Music Director. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

Encouragingly,

The Board of Generations in Jazz Inc.

PS. We will do all we can to help those schools who haven’t participated before and are not sure how to go about it or even where to start – so please don’t hesitate to call or email.
