A MESSAGE FROM THE PATRON
DARYL SOMERS

Generations is so unique in the world, every time I paint a picture of it for people, their first comment is “At Mount Gambier????” Yes, Mount Gambier!

You might expect to find 108 big bands and vocal ensembles in a major city competition in the USA, but in a small city in South Australia it’s extraordinary. How do you feed over 2000 kids breakfast, lunch and dinner? Where do they sleep?

Well it all happens through the positive community spirit of the people of the ‘Mount’ and the result for those involved is a magical musical weekend.
This year’s special guest Gordon Goodwin’s explosive musical moments with James Morrison were something to behold, especially their spur of the moment duet on piano.

If your school has not participated in Generations, I urge you to give it some thought. It’s divided up according to competency and designed for all to enjoy.

With a philosophy of never capping the number of bands involved, you’d be most welcome to join us for our big bash in 2012. Hope to see you there.
