Division One prize - 1st $7000, 2nd $5000 and 3rd $4000

Division Two prize - 1st $3000, 2nd $2000 and 3rd $1000

Division Three prize - 1st $750, 2nd $500 and 3rd $250

Division Four prize - Adjudication only

The winning band in Division 1 will be invited back to perform at the 2013 Generations in Jazz.

Music directors are asked to nominate the division of entry by the choice of set piece. The choice is at the discretion of the Music Director and should reflect the standard and ability of the band.

Division Choice

After taking into account some great feedback and assessing the results of the past few years, we've had a look at the level of the test piece within each division and decided on a change that will hopefully address any issues that have arisen.

Up until now the level of the test piece has been aimed at the top of each division; we tried to make it the most difficult thing that would be played by each band. This has led to some bands feeling that they would be better off in a lower division, or struggling to do the test piece for a division they knew they should be in.

We will now aim the test piece at the middle of each division. This will allow all to play it who should be in that division - they can then choose how difficult they would like to make their own choice pieces. We feel the test piece should delineate which division is which, while your choice pieces will spread the bands out within each division.

The bottom line is that from now on, the most difficult thing your band plays will be chosen by you.
