Welcome to the next exciting chapter in your pursuit of musical excellence.
If you have been offered a place, or are considering an audition for entry into the jazz programme at the Generations in Jazz Academy, then please examine the following information.
The Generations in Jazz Academy program is nested in the South Australian Certificate of Education programs offered at Tenison Woods College. If you are selected to be part of this program you will be sent an information package containing information about enrolment, accommodation, transport and living in Mount Gambier. When applying, students must have completed or be currently enrolled in Year 12.
The course contains an excellent balance of performance and academic units. It will be undertaken on a one year, full-time basis. Upon completion of the course you will have the option of adding other units to your senior secondary studies.
The course will include the following core units:
-
Principal Study
-
Improvisation
-
Jazz Theory
-
Aural Training
-
Small Ensemble
-
Jazz History
-
Large Ensemble
The Large Ensemble unit is what makes this course unique. It is the only course in Australia, including Universities that will offer this unit as ninety minutes a day, five days a week. Any big band that rehearses 180 hours in 40 weeks could attain and incredible standard of performance.
Your first performance will be as special guests with James Morrison at the Generations in Jazz weekend. Local and interstate performances with James are also in the negotiation stages.
