The James Morrison Jazz Scholarship is open to solo instrumentalists to further the jazz career of the successful entrant.

The winner will receive $10,000 to assist in the development of their career and receive and instrument from Yamaha Music Australia to the value of $3000.

Applications are initially by audition CD or tape, no mini discs (non returnable).

Six finalists will be selected and must be available to attend final adjudication in Mount Gambier during the Generations In Jazz weekend on 20th-22nd May, 2011.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be between 15-19 years of age as at 1st January, 2011.

Labelled CD or Tape (no mini discs) containing applicant's performance of

  • 12 bar blues

  • Ballad (own choice) maximum five minutes each

  • Recent photograph - passport size

  • Resume of musical history (brief - no booklets please)

  • Completed application form
