For one weekend every year, Mount Gambier becomes the centre of the jazz universe for Generations In Jazz. Held annually for more than 25 years, Generations In Jazz has established itself as a premier event on the national music scene. Nearly two thouhsand young musicians converge on the city, with internationally renowmed artists for three days of entertainment, sharing and competition, in the "spirit of Generations".

The atmosphere is electric, the performances are inspiring.

The many schools who return to Mount Gambier, year after year, for Generations In Jazz bears testament to the value and benefit to young musicians from participating in Australia's biggest stage band awards.

This is further reflected in the number of those young performers who go on to audition for selection as finalists in the coveted James Morrison Jazz Scholarship and the Generations In Jazz Vocal Scholarship.
