Generations in Jazz has been an important part of our music program for the past eight years; starting with 15 enthusiastic but inexperienced musicians setting off in an old bus. I remember that tour well, because that weekend completely transformed our band. Since then our music department has added a new Big Band every year, primarily due to the surging number of students who are keen to share in the Generations experience. In 2013 our tour party to Mt Gambier comprised 100 students. I don’t think there would be a school band in Australia that would not benefit enormously from playing at Generations in Jazz.

I kept telling the guys in the Big Phat Band how awesome it was at GIJ, but it wasn’t until we all got to Mount Gambier until it really sunk in. GIJ is an experience unlike anything we’ve seen. Check out what the guys are saying about Generations in Jazz!
Looking forward to another great experience at the Generations in Jazz Festival.

This trip is the highlight of my school life. The money was 150% worth it. I plan to practice much more so one day I can compare myself with the guys and girls I saw play…

Just wanted to let you know how amazing Generations in Jazz now is. I’m sure we all feel that, but it doesn’t hurt to let you know again how well organised and run this event is.
